I'm still here.....

....I've just not had anything new to blog about.....I guess you could call it "blogger's block". Hmm....what have I been doing over the past couple weeks? Well, John and I did celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary on the 14th!

It's just been the same ol' same ol'....house, yard, laundry....bor-ing! *yawn*....

My garden is "going to town!" It needs the tiller run thru it something fierce but we've gotten so much rain over the past couple weeks a tiller would only get mired down in the mud! Even with the shower we got this morning, hopefully it will dry up enough and the weeds won't get much worse to get it tilled in a couple of days! I have little tomatoes coming on the vines....little 3"-4" zucchini....I think I've even seen some cucumbers coming on! I know the rain has helped it tremendously but it sure makes it hard to get in there to weed.

Ely and Liz have been here for several days....the house they are renting has some plumbing issues so until that gets taken care of they are staying here. I'm having to share my computer/sewing room ...I'm not complaining...it's nice to have them here and I'm sure they'd much rather be in their own house since they are living out of suitcases and sleeping on an air mattress.

Working at home today.....my alterations work is all caught up so I can do some fun work today....and I don't mean the laundry! I had to go for a fabric fix last week so I started work on some aprons this morning! I will be showing them to you real soon!

I hope you all are well and had a great weekend....what's going on in your world today?

Go for a walk....then have a cookie!

Good Morning! Just wanted to share a few things from yesterday....I ran errands and on my way home...not quarter mile from the house I had to stop for this! Cane and Nadine (as my niece calls them for being Canadian Geese) taking the kids for a walk!

There are several ponds here they go from one yard/pond to the other....but that means crossing the road. Thank goodness they cross in the same area every time so we've got plenty of braking time! There are actually two "families" there but one has already made the crossing.....

Even though we had two geese spend alot of time down at our pond this winter, I never did see them bring up any babies.

Want a cookie? Do you like toffee or butter brickle? Looking for a yummy cookie recipe? I won't type out the recipe here because you can find it right on the package of 'HEATH' bits 'o brickle toffee bits!

They are 'Brickle Drop Cookies'... Ohh...SO good!! You can find the toffee bits in the bake aisle at Wal-Mart or I'm sure at most any grocery store. And like I said...the recipe is on the back....I think they keep the same recipes on the packaging of most products forever! And of course, there is always the web site... http://www.hersheyskitchens.com/

I've got a couple of alterations to get done and do some cleaning today. What are your plans for the day?

Monday, Monday.....

Let's see....this past week was rather quiet until the weekend. I got to spend alot of time at home. I worked on projects started long ago.... worked on new ones. The apron is done! This one is for me but I will soon be making more to put in my Etsy shop and/or in the Mercantile. I'd picked up these little baby shoes just the other day along with one of those old iron shoe form, and I still had an old zinc lid in my stash and I used all of them as bases for some make-do pin keeps. I got the 'Time' cross stitch piece made into a little hanger and I found this 'gift to God' piece in my stash of UFO's so I finished that into a little hanger too! I do need to put some finishing touches on the pin keeps. I also worked on a few other things....the bear and doll I mentioned in a previous post, then found a couple of snow angels I started...Hmm....was it LAST year or the YEAR BEFORE? So they are staying on my work table so that I'm sure to finish them up before I move on to much of anything else!

John was home for a while on Friday....so we planned on dinner out with Jayson and Sheila....we were planning on going to Lula's for a nice big ribeye! We pulled up...Wow! plenty of parking......their porch light was on....summer hours posted on the door....along with their vacation hours which happened to be all of last week! Durn!!! So we opted for the Italian restraunt...Coco Pazzo's. It's been open here for quite some time....maybe 5 years and we had not set foot in the place! Well, I'm here to tell ya, I will be going again and I won't be waitin' no 5 years to do it! It was REALLY good! I'd been SO hungry for manicotti but wouldn't make it because no one here to eat it so that's what I had and it was SO good! I might also mention that they have an awesome chocolate cake!!

Last Wednesday was my sister Susan's 40th birthday. So, sister shopping trip on Saturday to the Village Mall down by the lake. We had a great time... and Marsha, our oldest sister went with us this time!

And it seems like no matter where we go shopping, we always find ourselves at a Wal-Mart! I sure didn't mind...this one had a Starbucks and after a day of shopping, I really needed a cup of coffee!

Here are my sisters .... Marsha, Denise, Susan and Denni.....

We finally decided we'd all gone to all the places we needed to or wanted to and headed to dinner at The Outback Steakhouse....they have this chopped salad with pecans and blue cheese...Mmm...SO good...it was a nice change from the regular house or ceasar salads.

We headed for home....all of us just beat but ready to do it all again.......

The next birthday trip will be for my birthday in July....Hmm....what to do....where to go?!

**********************************

Our Dad's birthday is today, so yesterday, we had a little gathering at my sisters after church. Some of us just sat around and yacked under the shade tree while others fished, rode bikes or jumped on the trampoline!

Here are my nephews...Andrew, Evan and Peyton....bouncing on the trampoline! Andrew and Evan were lovin' it but I think Pey was afraid he was gonna get bounced off!!

*********************************

I don't know how many times I'd been out to the back porch or out the back door after I got home yesterday afternoon and didn't see this ...... Briar and Calli were headed out when they spotted this guy out in the back yard! He must of been headed to the creek or the pond....and who said turtles are slow? I don't think it had even been an hour after taking his pic that I went to see which direction he was headed and I couldn't even find him! He was gone!

******************************

I hope you had a nice weekend.....it's time I get off this thing and get myself busy! Playtime is over and work is waiting! Have a WONDERFUL day!!

It's June already!!

Well good morning all! I hope you've all had a wonderful week! Can you believe it's already June?! The yard mowing and weed eating is in full swing. The garden is in. Briar finally got his green beans planted. The tomatoe plants are goin' to town I tell ya! I need to be getting some cages around them soon! I've got a little room left out there I might get a couple of watermelon plants to set out....Ely was a little disappointed to see that I didn't have any out there!
I spent from last Thursday night until Saturday morning out with John in the truck. I usually take along a good book and some handwork.....I finished up the little 'Time' cross stitch piece (Primitive Betty's) before I left then took along the 'Love Grows' stitchery piece (Notforgotten Farm) and got most of it done then finished it when I got home! Now to get both into actual finished pieces!

I worked outside yesterday morning and when I got done I decided to work in something that I hadn't for quite some time......grubby wax! I found a box of candles and had some bars of soap so I done a grubby wax on them and wrapped them with cheesecloth and twine. While out and about last week, I found some old tin items so I got them worked into little somthin's..... and over the weekend, I had done some digging and found the two little wool projects started weeks ago so they got finished yesterday too!! Yea Me!! They are all done, tagged and ready to go to the Mercantile! Now, before I start anything else, I have to get some more of my unfinished items done! A bear...a doll that hold tulips...another sweet stitchery from Notforgotten Farm...an apron...if I dig deep enough, who knows what other ufo's I might find!

To top off my day....my sister Susan, her hubs Michael and my nephew Evan showed up last night so Michael could switch out the ceiling fan/light for a regular ceiling light here in my computer/sewing room! More light...I can see better!! And while he was here, he figured out the problem with the ceiling fans and outlets on my back porch! That being done, we can spend more time out there....We turned our air on over a week ago and you know once it's on....it's on. With all the windows and the fans on the back porch, it can be quite comfortable to sit out there and stitch or scrapbook while watching a movie or just listening to the sounds of living in the country. In fact, I think I might even drag one of my sewing machines out there today to work. Maybe I'll get some of those ufo's done?!

So what's going on in your world today?
