We woke Thursday morning to rain. The day we are supposed to be leaving on the motorcycle for the weekend and it's raining! Calling for showers off and on throughout the day, we took a chance when the rain stopped we packed the bike and headed out. We ran on wet roads for a spell but we didn't hit one raindrop!! We got to my cousin's place late afternoon. Gail was still at an appointment so we visited with Johnny for awhile then we borrowed Johnny's truck to go see his Mom, my Great-Aunt Ruby...who is 94! Here she is with her cat, Tabby! We spent a couple hours with her over supper....always good to see and visit with her. I wish she didn't live so far away so we could see her more often!
We spent the night with Johnny and Gail....then when Gail got home from work at noon on Friday, we headed out for Fayetteville, AR for the Bikes Blues & BBQ Rally! We met up with friends and had a GREAT time! I think each time we go, there are more bikes and more people! From newborn babies being pushed around in strollers (as if it's not hard enough to get around) to 80 yr old grandparents and from all walks of life. Good thing for cell phones cause if you're with a group of people when you start out, you are sure to get separated before you reach your destination and by the time the "lost" party catches up, it's time to move on to the next stop! Crazy as it is, we'll do it all again next year!

I snuck this picture of John while waiting for some of our group....

Riding down Dickson St. .......I took this one over my shoulder!
After already riding bikes over to the track center on Saturday morning, Saturday night, we took the train from Dickson St over there only to get back on and ride back to Dickson St.!
Up bright and early Sunday morning to gather things to head home...

Beautiful riding down in those parts...lots of hills and curves....I really need to practice taking pics while riding so I can get better pics next year!
********************************
Vacation over....back to work. Trying to find a water leak. Laundry. Grocery shopping. Cleaning. Not to mention the work work....the stack of alterations and orders. To top it off, John has some sort of bug....cold, allergies or sinues. I hope it clears up soon....or he's goin' to see Doc whether he likes it or not!
I hope you all are well and having a great week!!

Hang on Girls.....

...it's gonna be a wild ride!
Sometime back, I mentioned in a previous post that my sister, Marsha, was diagnosed last fall with breast cancer. She's doing fine, thanks. Awhile ago, she received information from Ellis Fischell Cancer Hospital, where she received her treatment, about a 'Decorate a Bra' Contest and silent auction. She couldn't wait to share that info with me and to let me know that WE were going to do this! LOL....."WE" meaning, she'll pay for all the supplies and I'll put it together! So a couple weeks ago we got together to go register and buy the supplies.
Well, I thought I'd share what I came up with.....

Looking thru photos of past events, I had not seen a biker bra so I decided to go with that. I added some silver studs, leather fringe, a metal H-D embellishment and I cut off the regular shoulder straps and replaced them with chains. Then, on the back at the closure.....

A metal "HOPE" embellishment. Marsha loved it! And so did everyone she showed it to! So off we went yesterday afternoon to submit our entry! There were several turned in already....We were so caught up in making the bra that we didn't even ask how they determine the winner! But it doesn't matter! It's the cause that counts!

If you would like to know more about this event, just visit http://www.ellisfischel.org/body_efcc.cfm?id=1885

I hope you are having a great week and enjoying the cooler temps!

Closing Day!

If you remember, some time back, I mentioned Ely and Liz staying with us for a few days that turned into "whenever we can find something to buy"...That was back in June...well, I'm happy to say that TODAY they FINALLY got to close on their house! I am so happy for them! It's a nice little 2 bed/2 bath ranch w/garage and small barn on 5 acres! And it's only about 7 or 8 miles from here. It was a government foreclosure and it seemed to take forever to get everything in order for them to close. But it's now done and the work begins. As with alot of foreclosures, the houses are left somewhat of a mess and that is how they are sold...as is! I helped Ely clean a bit this evening...it's amazing the difference just a little cleaning can do. We are far from finished though. Walls to repair and paint, doors to replace, carpets to clean and if they don't clean up the way we hope, then there will be carpet to tear up and replace! Then moving and unpacking...and getting my room back in order! Hopefully, we'll have all this taken care of in the next couple weeks or so.

I hope you are having a great week! Where do the days go? It's already Thursday! I've gotten alot accomplished this week but yet I still feel like I could of done more had the hours not passed so quickly!
The little BOO box there is one of my lastest finishes this week...and already SOLD! This is one of Primitive Betty's freebie designs! Thanks Betty!
Also got a doll order finished up and made up another little box with a sheep punch needle on the top. Alterations has been fairly busy this week and then there's the usual day to day things to do.

Well, it's late...way later than what I'm usually up so I'm going to say good-night! Have a wonderful Friday!!

Good Monday Morning!

Well, it was a busy weekend! I helped out at the Mercantile all day Friday and Saturday! I always enjoy working during this time...seeing all the new things and hearing how everyone is going to use them in their home. I wanted to share this photo with you....taken Saturday. We had live entertainment....I never did get their names ... one lady played the dulcimer and her sister played the guitar. They sounded great! I think that some thought it was a cd playing!
I also wanted you to see the porch swing....somehow I missed it in the previous photos!

It's hard to say what the most popular item was because there were so many, I just couldn't keep track! There were wreaths and berry/floral picks, woven rugs, dolls, always potpourri, hips and pods, ornaments for little Halloween trees, mums and pumpkins. Just look at this one I brought home...isn't it gorgeous?! I stuck it down into a burlap bag then tied with homespun and it's now sitting on an old milk can out on my front porch. Let's hope the pups will leave it be!

I didn't work Sunday since John was home for the day. Spent a quiet but very busy day at home. I even played hookie from church.

I hope you all have had a nice weekend.....and hope you have an awesome week!

Good Sunday Mornin'......

It's just a quiet weekend here on the farm. It's a damp, cool morning here. Fall is definitely in the air! It's that time of year, as if we haven't been busy enough thru the summer, that the weekends on the calendar start to fill up! This weekend Labor Day...a farewell to summer with backyard bar-b-ques, picnics in the park, maybe a last swim party before closing the pool for the season or one more trip to the lake. I'll be going to a family gathering at my folks tomorrow. Whatever you do this weekend, be safe and have fun!
Next weekend is open house! I stopped in to the mercantile one day this past week and OH MY! has Sherrie got that place PACKED with your favorite things! I hope to see you there!

The following weekend...it's on my calendar but unfortunately, I won't be able to go since it's so far from home! On-line friend, Lori of Notforgotten Farm of Virginia, is hosting "A Gathering of Primitive Friends"...if you are in the area and you love primitive....or stitchin', punchin' or hookin'....you will want to stop in! You can learn more about it by visiting Lori's blog or web site... http://farmhousenotforgotten.blogspot.com or http://www.picturetrail.com/notforgottenfarm

Then....the next weekend.... It's Bikes Blues & BBQ time in Fayetteville, Arkansas! I'm really looking forward to this! Always a great time at BBB! Let's hope for pleasant riding weather...sunny skies and warmer temps! Plans are to stop in on the way and see my great-aunt Ruby who is 94! I've not seen her for a couple of years now so I'm looking forward to that as well.

Hope you have a great day! I'm goin' to church this morning then back home to work on things for next weekend! If I have a few minutes on my way home, I just might stop by the mercantile and snap a few pics...just to entice you a little bit!
Have a fun holiday weekend!!

I'm still here...

.....just don't ask what I've gotten accomplished in these 10 or 11 days since my last post! I won't bore you with the details....just same ol' same ol'.
We did have a really nice weekend....John got home last Wednesday. Friday night we went to a rodeo over in Troy and when that was over, we decided to go on down towards St. Louis for the night. Saturday we took in a little bit of historic St. Charles. Always nice to get away....even if it's just for a day.
I hope your week is off to a good start. John's gone back to work so it's back to work for me. I've got a small doll order to fill so guess I will start work on that today.
A little reminder.... Randolph Mercanile Fall Open House...Sept 11-12-13!
Have a great day!!
